As with all types of decorative surfacing, there are both good and bad installers. Whilst the majority of installers are highly skilled and provide an excellent service this is sadly not always the case. Along with the popularity of resin bound surfaces, the number of new installers has increased over the last few years and in turn this has resulted in increased competition, lower prices and increased efforts to cut costs. The majority of our customers have continued to maintain the highest of standards. However cost cutting by using low cost and low performance resins, reducing the amount of resin used and generally cutting corners in preparation, application and ongoing customer support has become an all too common a problem. The screed application depth plays an important role in the overall capabilities of a bound surface.

This is a product that is made from completely recycled materials and has a load bearing capability up to 800 tonnes per square metre. The grids carry a patented locking mechanism that is unique to this product and ensures that once the grid is locked in place, it stays in place. The grid system has a low surface area of exposed plastic, Resin Driveways allowing a strong bond between the stone infill and the resin bound surface. Resin bound stone is a new and effective way of providing a highly aesthetic surface for your home or business premises. It can be installed internally or externally to provide a surface that is both very robust and load bearing, but also fully permeable. This means that any water that hits the surface will freely drain through the resin bound topping and through the ecogrid base system to naturally dissipate in to the water table.

The resulting material is trowelled onto the base for a smooth, flat finish with no loose gravel. Resin-bound paving is a mixture of aggregate stones and resin used to pave footpaths, driveways, etc. In summary,a resin bonded system delivers a non-permeable, single stone layer surface. Because the stone only adheres to the resin on one side, there is potential for the stone to become loose and scattered.

Once the area has been prepared and cleared of any debris, the new surface will be laid against a secure stable edge or edging. So provided the weather stays dry and the temperature does not fall below zero, a resin bound specialist should have no problem finishing the work in only a few days. Boasting an eye catching design the resin bound and bonded kits are offered in a wide range of decorative aggregates in various colours. Our extensive selection allows you to tailor your driveway to your own style with each one finished to the highest standard. Because the aggregates are scattered on to a complete layer of resin, water cannot pass through; this means a resin bonded system is not porous.

At derbyshire specialist aggregates, we believe a resin bound system is the highest quality and most durable aggregate-based surface solution currently available. No other system offers the same range of strengths, resistances, structural and aesthetic benefits as resin bound.

The surface is made by using loose aggregate, mixed onto the resin, not as durable as a resin bound surface and over time can come away when it comes in to contact with constant use, such as car tyres. The ecogrid system employs patented ecogrid paving as the permeable, load bearing base.
